Artist: Alice Andreini
Gallery: CSULB School of Art
About the Artist:
Alice Andreini is a graduate student in drawing and painting. She learned how to paint about 6 years ago and was in school for it for 3 years. She plans to contribute practice as a painter after she graduates. As hobbies, she likes to read poetry and and literature. Her favorite author is Virginia Wolf. She also likes to hike.
Andreini likes to start with the suspicion of her own perceptions and then thinks about how we are unaware of these constructs that define the way we see things. She believes that cell phone changes how we look at time. She used landscapes as a construct because they are stimulated and even when they’re natural, there are structures imposed on them. Nature in landscape is used symbolically.
Andreini is interested in how we visualize and imagine spatial illusions. She isn’t inspired by beauty or nature but is more inspired by the questions related to nature. She is really inspired to paint but she needs more leisure time to do so.
I really enjoyed looking at her art because even though they looked similar, each piece is different with meaning. I like how subtle the colors are and how they each cross each other that creates the image as a complete whole. I like how she enjoys nature and landscapes as an inspiration to her art. She was really interesting to talk to.
